The name,” tah.mah.lah” is the Ohlone (Costanoan) people’s word for mountain lion or puma. This name was chosen by the owners of this sustainably-designed and architected private home and event venue out of respect for the Ohlone people who once roamed California lands and in honor of the creatures roaming the Portola Valley’s ecosystem. The tah.mah.lah facility is unique in its commitment to environmental sensitivity, an energy-efficient habitat, with systems built in to repurpose water, reduce and reuse waste, using reclaimed materials wherever possible and eliminating its own and occupants’ carbon footprint (including transportation).
